The scieince of using information rightly is called education

We need change in the education system has been the echo of all the youngsters Meghna Beri interviewed for krrisha.com this week. What our education system lacks in most is a comprehensive way to bring about overall development of a student, all of them infer. But, let’s remove the peels and get to the juice of it all.

Let’s get deeper
Education is, according to Krishna,  a scientific process of manifesting your real potential in the day-to-day life. Book-learning, skill-learning and the rest can at best be the means to achieving this end. I only ask one question to those who have been educated in the westernised system of education— can you face every life situation and prevail? Most of them will say, ‘not really’! Because, whatever they have acquired, learned through books and listening is just an input which can’t be processed beyond a limit and hence it can’t be used properly in life. Major part of our education menu card has bare information, without a clue to use them. That Krishna says is ‘gyan’—energy with intent. But, it is of no use if you can’t use this information in the day -to-day life. In Discourse 9, Krishna hints that this energy is of no use if it is not used or if it can’t be used. But, it can be used and that science which educates you in using this energy the right way is called vigyan—the energy to implement it. He also says that the aim of education or acquiring knowledge is getting rid of negative situations or dealing with all your situations as a master—free man, not involved in it. Therefore, the real aim of education is manifesting acquired energy in the most practical way in order to deal with life situations like a hero.
A phrase used by Him in this discourse is very conclusive—
ज्ञानं विज्ञानसहितं यत् ज्ञात्वा मोक्ष्यसे अशुभात्  Here Krishna is telling Arjuna that He is giving Arjuna Gyan with vigyan, knowing which he will prevail over his situation like a master. This is the right definition of education.

But who can receive it?
The person whose intellect is full of reception and body-mind-system full of energy to implement it, is the right student. That is possible only when you become a right receiver. How to be that? The hint about it is given in Discourse 2. It comes from Arjuna, who is confused and whose intellect is clouded with all sorts of information of what is right and what is wrong. He is desperate to know the right way and says,
यच्छ्रेयस्यान्निश्चितं ब्रूहि तन्मे।
शिष्यस्तेहं शाधि मां त्वां प्रपन्नम्।।
It means , Finally, tell me O Krishna what is good for me. I am your student, please educate me.” And what Krishna imparts to him thereafter is education, which enables him to emerge victorious over the forces of his situation.
Therefore,  a perfect student should have genuineness to receive education and implement it the way advised.

According to me Education system is the systematic approach to the process of educating children falling under that ruling body.

My experiences have been somewhat a mix of good and bad. I believe the approach of this system is very vast but not specialised. I believe our system still has an outdated approach with too much emphasis on not so important topics. Our system encourages a herd mentality, in which a student aspires to just follow a couple of selected streams in a world and in a time where there is an ocean of streams available.

It can surely cater to the aforementioned development, but that would require a very efficient planning and execution. Especially in a country like India where there is a large population of student and more or less, a lack of educational funds.

Inference: Education can only cater to development when it is in accordance with the need of the generation. I believe that our system still has an outdated approach and encourages herd mentality.

Education system is a holistic process of development which imbibes different platforms of study, allowing each person to engulf into a chariot of his/her choice while learning about all of the other subjects at first and then specialising the way they want to. This allows all to not only know about a singular stream but all while making a career in one.
My experience as with regard to institutionalised education system has been one that has been mediocre in various ways, including the structural bias of forcing students to implement their focus on a few subjects rather than understanding what a student wants to study and can be better at. Hence, putting immense pressure on students to perform in areas which they do not actually want to put their minds into for brain storming.
Yes, institutionalised education system does cater to the overall mental and intellectual development of an individual in the long run, though, only if the focus of their study is one of choice and not one of pressure and imposingly common study for all. Every person is different with a different approach to things, which is more important in study than gaining knowledge through impositions.

Inference: Our education system is subject centric and not student centric. That is why my experience of it is mediocre.

An education system, I suppose is a uniform process made for all education institutions so that it can somewhat cater to all round development of children or learners with regard to primary and secondary schooling while also making provisions for specialization in certain fields with regard to higher studies or vocational courses.
As a student the education system was good enough for me as the school teachers were educated and there were a lot of curricular and co-curricular activities that fostered mental and intellectual development. Despite my introvert nature, the abundance in activities allowed me some opportunities to cater to my mental development.
So, theoretically the school and education system provides a lot of opportunities for mental and intellectual development and allows flexibility to improve the new generation by keeping in touch with the changing situations . Continuous amendments are made along with regular changes in the education curriculum to suit the needs of the learners. Practically it is a bit difficult to cater to all round mental and intellectual development but since efforts are being made to create better education systems, it develops a more promising future for the coming generations.

Inference: My experience as a student in the prevalent education system was good enough for me since it fostered mental and intellectual development.

An education system is a conscious teaching programme, that constantly strives to evolve its function of administrating sources and platforms of knowledge which the mass population of students, will be learning everyday, regardless of their age and background, that pertains to the crucial development of one’s skills, conscience, personality and the capability to contribute back to the society with what they attained.

Although I have been a candidate of attaining the CBSE curriculum of syllabus during my school boards, we were taught through the ICSE based curriculum till my 8th standard; which included the evaluation process of our papers in the ICSE method of evaluation as well. While switching to CBSE in class 9, it felt that although the curriculum may have become easier, but the standard of English textbooks also became more basic and were only equipped to fetch one hasty marks during the board exams, instead of solid, mature study materials. It was the same continuity in my +2 years of studying Humanities. Elective English was tougher to score (not beyond 75 percentile), hence had to ‘settle’ for the Core one. This system has been setup from the school level itself, possibly in order to meet the exemplary cut-off marking these days in Universities and colleges. Its 2018, but yet the cutoff for admission in a good college stands 99 percentile. If a student wishes to pursue English for his/her future degree, and perhaps even gets through one of the best colleges in the city, with the CBSE English curriculum, it gets difficult to cope with the University level demands of handling texts in a more organised and focused way. It seems here that, till school level, one is only taught the importance of marks over study material. But once you are moving out into the outer world, you are expected to know a lot. Also, not many schools provide a push to students to explore beyond what the school textbook teach. To not just a English literature student, but for students from any other field, it is important to expand one’s intellectual capacity from various other platforms and sources, which is not present in many schools, unless one has had the fortunate opportunity of having parents and teachers alike to push you ahead with the same.
The institutionalised education system of India can only take care of you as far as marks and percentile are concerned. It might teach you to score well and represent your school only in the game of numbers and competition. But the crux of the problem is that there is no institution that will be teach students to question what they study or are being taught. No matter what the source of knowledge is. The subject matter is given very little importance to, and students only understand the vitality of education through marks, without having their thoughts and ideas reaching full maturity and development for their own benefit.

Inference: The practical knowledge is missing, there is only theory which does not make a person capable of dealing a situation outside.

Man making machinery that is on the verge of being obsolete.
It has been both enriching and problematic ,spiritual essence is being lost as a whole because education is only serving a purpose of making us robots for the world.
No ,not in the present scenario .Spiritual education and value and moral sciences should be added to the curriculum to make us better human beings besides professional.

Inference: Spiritual education and value and moral sciences should be added to the curriculum to make us better human beings besides professional.

The education system is state regulated and it is meant to induce individuals to specialise in the subjects they are inclined to thus helping in the development of individual skills and talents which further helps in the development of state.
I haven't really had a bad experience with the school education system but certain boards are indeed messed up and it is high time that we in India learn that BA and MA should not precede BEd. The education system should keep a check on the absurd vastness of syllabus with unnecessary compulsory subjects being thrown to the students. Education should be based on quality and not quantity and choice and not compulsion. I guess this is where the Indian education system is messed up.
Any education system should help one in figuring out what is best for oneself. Long run mental and intellectual development is possible only when the individual is allowed freedom of choice and this freedom of choice in terms of academics is dependent on the availability of specialised subjects. It is only when we have complete specialisation across all subjects that we can have proper development. Well of course an individual's mental development is also affected by factors outside the sphere of education such as the upbringing and so on.

Inference: Education should be based on quality and not quantity and choice and not compulsion.

India's education system is divided into primary, secondary, higher secondary, University level.
The Indian system of education has had a great role in shaping my mental skills. I have acquired good habits and my brain has been tamed to absorb knowledge from all in the world.
Yes it does cater to the overall mental and intellectual development of an individual in the long run.

Inference: The Indian system of education has had a great role in shaping my mental skills. I have acquired good habits and my brain has been tamed to absorb knowledge from all in the world.

Educational System is a process of which everyone is a life long student. Apparently, it ends at a certain point of time in our life when we choose to go away from it and try to find a job. But it's impact never ends indeed.
My experience as a student of a specific systematic education was good enough. It taught me discipline and sense of right and wrong.
Yes, it does. But not more than the impact of family and surroundings of a child which helps him/her to grow up according to its taste.

Inference: My experience as a student of a specific systematic education was good enough. It taught me discipline and sense of right and wrong.

I feel it's a "system" that is just very mechanical. It gives us bookish knowledge without any practical wisdom. Why else will a student remain confused after school and think about what he's going to do? It's only for marks. I know so many schools in india, where a student is called up when he or she gets 89 and not a 90
It helped that I was not a bad student and overall hence, as a student my experiences weren't all that bad. However, the same can't be said for my cousin sister. She's not the greatest student but is great in art and creative writing. However, she's always called up for not getting good marks in chemistry and maths, with teachers even stating that there's no future for her. That just shows how bad the system is in India.
Unless someone wants to go into academics, no. Or unless you have a very good teacher, there is hardly any development in the long run? We learn more from our friends and our experiences than we do sitting in a classroom studying about akbar and organic chemistry.

Inference: I feel it's a "system" that is just very mechanical. It gives us bookish knowledge without any practical wisdom.

Education system is a social system/ institution which is responsible for catering education to the masses, usually coming under the responsibility of the the government/administration.
Education can be home or public schooling. Institutionalized schooling involves public schooling, starting from kindergarten to high school. I was put into a kindergarten at the age of 2 years and entered school at 3.5 years of age. School had always been fun for me. I was one of those students who did not cry on the first day of school. School has been very instrumental in my education and also my overall personality, imbibing leadership qualities etc.
To an extent yes ,it does. It does bring a lot of exposure to the child. As far as overall mental and intellectual development is concerned, it is a mix of both nature and nurture. A variety of experiences can be gained from both institutionalized schooling as well as home schooling. Initially, children with different intellectual abilities were not schooled together. Rather, anyone under the label of a "disorder" lost their right to be schooled with the intellectually "average". However, much improvement has been made with regards to inclusive schools and syllabi.

Inference: School has been very instrumental in my education and also my overall personality, imbibing leadership qualities.

Education system is only not referred to get systematic knowledge of various disciplines. It refers to preparation of self growth ,mind , soul and all round development of a human figure with intellectual development. I have also received totality experiences of personality to face life challenges and the needs of the society.
Yes but at the same time it is a challenging role of an institution to prepare an individual for life. It's dynamic and continuous it should never stop making experimentations to receive perfection.

Inference: I have also received totality experiences of personality to face life challenges and the needs of the society.
Yes but at the same time it is a challenging role of an institution to prepare an individual for life. It's dynamic and continuous it should never stop making experimentations to receive perfection.

Education is human’s preparatory attempt towards structuring a society in its civil order and the system thus construed for this purpose is education system.
Institutions kick start with a set of ideology and in the process of progressing towards their goal, encounter deterioration as an obvious challenge; institutionalised education system in India strives to make its marks as a productive system but has its downside. As a student I find it compromised in the dimension of execution.
The system does not cater to a wholesome development of mind and intellect. It appears to be still making its attempt towards it. System is largely producing frustrated, depressed, confused, selfish, competitive youngsters who are hanging between western: still-developing concepts and wrongly presented and interpreted cultural values and stands thereby frustrating them and nullifying their creative side.
The system trains minds towards dry diplomacy hence compromising the right discernment and that leads to depressions and frustrations in young minds instead of healthy understanding and development.
