Ashwatthama

This son can work wonders without father!

He is the son of Dronacharya and Kripi. I have already detailed that Kripi was the twin sister of Kripacharya. Ashwatthama was a great warrior. He learnt the martial arts from his father Dron and was equally invincible as his father was. Dhrishtadyumna killed Dronacharya while the former was killed by Ashwatthama. He was also named Droni as he was the boon to Dron from Lord Shiva’s boon for his penance. A rumour of Ashwatthama’s death depresses Dron and becomes the cause of his death.

Real Import
This is history. Ashwatthama in Sanskrit means the channel from which radiate all energy distribution networks. Ashwah means purified energy current and sthama means the main channel. From the word sthama has originated the word Sthambhah, which means the column. The English word stem has the same origin. But, how does it look like in the human system? This is aptly described by Krishna in chapter 15 shlokas 1 and 2 which principally sketch out that this Ashwatthama has urdhwamoolamadhah shakhashwatham. It is like an inverted tree with its root system above and branches down. What is its nature? Praahuravyayam, that means, it is said to be indestructible. The point to note here is that this energy channel system, which resembles the central nervous system in the human body, cannot be destroyed and hence Ashwatthama is said to be immortal.  Energy and energy system cannot be destroyed.

Shiva’s boon
According to the Indian yogic system, Shiva’s abode is the Sahastrar lotus (Thousand-petalled lotus in the brain) in the human system. Ashwatthama is the boon of Shiva and is said to be one of the Rudravataars.  Rudra represents melting down or flowing of energy like tears off Shiva’s eyes. Avataran means Shiva’s tears flowing down like rivers of energy and Ashwatthama is born to Dron as the central nervous system in the human body. Dron is an individual memory with a universal link. Therefore, these energy channels work under the command of memory till the latter hasn’t become one with the Creator. At this stage, Ashwatthama is also called Droni—the power carrier of Dron. What does Ashwatthama do? Everything that is happening in the world all around is the working of Ashwatthama in various body-mind systems. How? The reactions and responses of the nerves in each body depend on the memory in that system. Therefore, the entire world is just action and counter-action of that energy.  However, the system, wherein the individual memory has dissolved, is directly under the command of Shiva and gets engaged in welfare work all over.

Takeaway: Actions lead to knowledge. Assortment of this knowledge forms individual memory (the cause of action-reaction in the world ). Wherein the individual memory merges into the universal memory, God’s avatar is born—as Krishna says in chapter 4 Sambhavaami yugey yugey ( I manifest time to time in the finite dimension). For manifestation of God in the universe, Nature is the medium. Likewise, for His manifestation in the individual, Ashwatthama is the medium. Your memory(Dron), Ashwatthama and Drupad(genetic memory)form major part of your nature.
Free your Ashwatthama from you memory and manifest infinite energy. Therefore, this son can work wonders without father.
