Everything is fake in today's world, how to tell right from wrong ?

Sneha Dwivedi, teacher,  Lucknow

Sneha, a good question again as it voices many people's concern. And majority of them want an answer in terms of an individual--whether a person is real or fake! But, to assess we also need to have a basic intelligence which has roots in the Rishi wisdom.

First, we need to understand the basic grammar of the world -- everybody is intuitively trying to become something. This is genuine. But, how much of that he/she has become is the grey area. In majority of the cases, one finds that an individual is 30% of his ideal, but he/she talks, poses and shows off 100%. Now he/she has 70% fakeness. Isn't it? But, can you really call it fake? Because that person is on the way of becoming the rest 70% some day. Yes, he/she is lying in terms of projections and not intent. Isn't it? The intent is to become 100% of he ideal. Therefore, practically speaking, one has to judge a person not by his appearance, projection, talks, but by his/her intent. Our focus should be on intent rather than projection. And it is not a difficult task to judge somebody's intent. Ha ha ha ... Because, there is a huge gap between his/her being and becoming. But to judge that your mind too should be strong enough to shield itself from the projected onslaught (this is called hypnotism)! Isn't it?

Krishna gives a very simple test to identify fakeness in Chapter 2, shlok 16 of the Gita, नासतो विद्यते भावो नाभावो विद्यते सत:  That means "fakeness" has no permanence and genuineness is ever present. So whatever you find not in accordance with somebody's projected image will vaporise in some time and you will see the reality as it is. However, why should you be shocked, surprised and unsettled by seeing that reality? You wanted that and why should you repent that at all? Because, you still are charmed by the projected 70% hypnosis in that person and finding it not there, you cry like a baby. Everybody does like that.

But, it is a fact that the person who has become 100% of his ideal will always stand the test. Well, that 100% can only be in a Krishna-perfect person. The world will continue to have "the men in transition towards their ideal." We too belong to the same category. Therefore, instead of judging somebody by his/her personality (projected ideal), judge his/her intent. If that intent goes along your intent, then it is okay, otherwise not.Intent is like both have the same destination. Therefore, intent-match is more realistic than horoscope-matching !-- VS
