Virat

File your case in Virat’s court, if you want justice done!

Virat Raj is the king of a place in India, now called Biratnagar.  This is where the Pandavas stay for a year during their exile. Virat Raj has three sons Uttar, Shankha and Shweta and one daughter Uttara. She is married to Abhimanyu. She gives birth to the future king of Kuru kingdom Parikshit. The Virats fight from the Pandavas’ side and get perished. Before their entry into the Virat kingdom, the Pandavas had spent 12 years in Kamyak and Dwait forests. It is in the courtroom of Virat that Krishna addresses many kings and elucidates as to how the war is inevitable now. He motivates all to join the battle of righteousness and recalls how Shakuni has forced the Pandavas into a 12-year exile through his cunning gamblery. He also tells the kings that how the Pandavas, who have all the power to decimate anybody, even spend one year of Agyaat Vaas (hiding their identity), braving hardships all through. However, he calls upon the kings not go by His version of the Pandavas’ side and suggests them to send a messenger to the Kauravas to resolve the matter peacefully and have a first-hand view of the overall situation. The messenger should raise the Pandavas’ rightful demand for half-kingdom with Duryodhan, He says. The kings admire Krishna’s unbiased approach and decide to send a messenger. But, as usual Duryodhan is stupidly adamant. The Mahabharata happens.

Real Import

This is history. Kamayak, Dwait and Agyat Vaas and addressing of kings’ meeting in Virat’s court by Krishna, all define the Pandavas’ spiritual journey. Virat here connotes two meanings, first infinitely big and shining with diamond-like lustre. The other meaning relates to the state without cacophonous sounds. Vi stands for without and rat for cacophonous sounds. All these put together define the infinite sky with shining stars. Kamyak relates to the bodily pleasures and dwait  the essential duality of 'I and God, nothing in between' (beginning of spirituality). Now there is Agyat Vaas. Agya+ atah is the state of supreme knowledge—which ends the worldly dimension and makes you lose 75% individuality—-you are there, but not as a genetic individual but as a continuity of Existence Knowledge and Bliss with a separator of a see-through veil. Just before the complete merger with this Reality—God. What your individuality manifests here can be understood by suffixing the prefix to every word—sarva+agya , means all knowing, prati +agya, witness of all, vishesha + agya, expert at everything, vidhi + agya,  vidhan+agya , knower of all laws and enforcer of all laws respectively, etc.

The yogis call it the state of reaching the Agya Chakra.  Kamyak and Dwait forests represent there lower three and upper two chakras before it respectively. (Not allowed to detail further).

What is Virat’s courtroom?

It can be understood only by understanding the presence of Krishna in that room. Krishna is technically present everywhere. He is with the Pandavas. Yet, he defines the heart of all as the place where He is found 24X7. There cannot be a courtroom in the sky. But, the sky can be where Krishna is. That is why yogis call the heart Hridayakash—the place where indivisible infinite meets the finite dimension in the body. Here Krishna speaks for the Pandavas and asks all the kings to send a messenger to Duryodhan or there will be a battle, wherein all supporters of Duryodhan, however mighty they are, will die.  This only establishes one spiritual fact. That is you may reach the highest dimension through penance or spiritual practice. But, God always talks to you in the heart. You will have to return to the heart to carry out his command. Therefore, Krishna prescribes meditation in 5 and 6 chapters of the Gita with Agyachakra and nose tip being the centre of focus. In fact, both lead to the heart! (Can’t detail further). Practically, this means, you may fly about in the sky and achieve all the powers on the earth but you will get solace and solution only in the heart, where He lives.

All your penances, austerities, worries etc are only answered in Virat’s courtroom. This courtroom includes the region from the heart to the Sahastraar (thousand-petal lotus, as the yogis say) in the brain. But, the brain will only transmit the neurological message when Krishna has qualified it, justified it and asked the kings (all the powers in the universe and all the cells of the brain and the body) to carry it out. Without His sanction, nothing can be achieved. We can say Virat’s court is the place and time when Krishna asks the brain to send the last message of justice to Duryodhan (Lust and anger). After that Lord Himself carries out the message by becoming Arjuna’s charioteer and brings the message, pending for over 13 years, home in 18 days! It is time to say My God!

What’s Krishna’s message?

The message is ‘Duryodhan, give half the kingdom to the Pandavas.’ That means let Kam world and Spiritual world live together in harmony. But, Kam is selfishly unwilling to part with even a needle-point of the kingdom—needle-point represents not even a neurone to the spirit. A needle is called suchika in Sanskrit. The term has the same root as suchana, meaning information. The needle-point, in fact, refers to the unit link of carriers of information. Point refers to the head of neurone cell.

However,  the body is all mine, says Kam. The war happens and Kam loses all instead.  Krishna intervenes only when you have got rid of your genetic individuality—I am this, I am that—you are nothing. Just a big nothing. Realise that and you will be in Virat’s courtroom.

But, why Krishna chooses Virat’s courtroom to deliver justice? Because God always decides matters in the silence of the skies!

Takeaway: All your penances, spiritual practices and endeavours should help your point of view be raised in Virat’s courtroom. Once it is there, Krishna will takeover. Therefore, Virat’s courtroom is where Krishna  takes over your battle.  Virat Raj is just a dummy head—-like the sky and stars—in the kingdom of God. So,  raise your issue in Virat’s court, if you want justice done!
